Project Intentions:

This project tries to practice Plurality of Functions and Attributes of the architecture/interior elements. The functions of elements which are creating a space, are not accomplished with their own well-known functions (such as Table for placing dishes, or Chair for sitting).  Process of this design moves toward creating objects, which they could offer a third function, along fulfilling daily needs and conceptual aspects, which this third function could be called Décor. It means that objects of space such as discussion bench, atelier desks & Etc. could be present as an abstract monument, along encompassing factors to eliminating their main function (Diagram DF-03). This concept gets “plural” while the first-time users could not guess or comprehend the function of this objects. However they could get along with the object, they also could read multiple readings of the objects (Text), even if attributes which designer (Writer) did not offer. (See: Roland Barthes, Plurality of Text)

Main parts of this office (Architecture office) include 3 parts: 1- Bookshelf 2-Atelier 3- Discussion bench. Also the design procedure in this architecture firm follows this process; Basic studies, Etude, design, discussion, research, redesign &…, which decoration objects also follow this attributes. Bookshelf have a rectangular form, indicating Wisdom; geometric shapes especially rectangles are always symbol for wisdom (Diagram FD-01). This object is continued around the atelier walls (continues surface) to create pc desks. Continues forms (surface/line), indicate Stream line, or Produce line in an architecture office. Also a shelf, which allows the personnel to put their folders and accessories, continues parallel to the desks, reminding human pulse; indicating of the atelier being the pulse of the office. The surface ends by being drawn and twisting on the ground, creating an abstract monument, forming the heart of the office; Discussion bench (Diagram FD-01). This complexity refers to Roland Barthes (French philosopher and Linguist) idea, “Plurality of meaning”; Complexity in speech, Polyphonic, and plurality of meaning in Text or discussion, could be discussed not only by form, but also in behavior of users.

There is another sector in the office, which is belongs to non-architecture engineers. This sector is designed as a panel, which in front view present itself as a still, pure, rectangular shape; but a complicated mold in the final form. The panel has a dark shell which separates it from atelier, but the desk surface follows the atelier’s desk (Stream line) color and material (Diagram DF-02). Shelves and document archive of the office, which locates behind Secretor’s desk; follow a neoplasticism composition (Diagram SHD-01). There are 3 type of folders (plus one other for personals), separated by color for 3 categories (Diagram SHD-02). Folders place in each shelf, and they are covered by semitransparent Plexiglas doors, which this makes the shelf remind Piet Mondrian’s composition artworks (Diagram SHD-03). It’s only a metaphor the fact that, every single detail in the work (in this office) should follow some thought, point of view and a look at art and philosophy.

About construction:

All parts and objects (instead of Pc Chairs) are created and constructed by the designers. The construction happened in 3 tree levels; first objects that could have been installed inside the office were installed, then more complex objects (which should be installed to first phase objects), were created in different parts in a workshop and transported into the office. After installation, in the last level finishing of the objects was done by some coatings including polychromatic paints.
